Open Position: Senior Production Planner

Job Summary

Responsible for creating Master Schedule and tracking work orders, ensuring required material is supplied to production floor in accordance with production schedule and provide timely feedback to Production Department. Prioritizes work orders and identifies and resolves constraints in support of production schedule. Participates in production schedule meetings.

  • Identifies and resolves any constraints withing production schedule.
  • Assist in implementing practices that will effectively utilize production resources.
  • Follow written guidelines within established tolerances.
  • Recommend changes in processes to improve production capabilities.

Essential Duties

  • Plans and prepares manufacturing production schedules, assesses changes and improves processes as necessary.
  • Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of work orders and stock transfers.
  • Coordinates material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials are timed to meet production requirements.
  • Identifies material shortages (produced, procured) to minimize disruption to the production schedule
  • Compiles information and makes recommendations that impact production rate and process, materials inventory, materials used, or customer information
  • Liaises with Operations, Procurement and Programs to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of receipt of required components
  • Tracks status of material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, and materials are available as needed.
  • Coordinates interdepartmental activity with Quality Assurance, Quality Inspection, Manufacturing, Procurement, Engineering, IE Technicians, Inventory Control, Packaging, Shipping, and other shared services groups.
  • Provide coverage and backup to other Production Controllers, as required
  • Manages the outside processes including heat treatment, bonding, chroming and painting, etc.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • 7-10 years of experience in production planning and scheduling or a bachelor’s degree with 4-6 years in production planning and scheduling experience.
  • Capable of making independent decisions on production issues, and understands which issues to escalate to Manager and/or Manufacturing management for review
  • A critical thinker with effective tactical problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Windows applications; Power user in Microsoft Excel is necessary with the ability to download and analyze ERP data with Excel based tools (e.g., Pivot Tables, Vlookup)
  • Strong verbal and written communication is a MUST
  • Must be self motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision – Ability to read and interpret manuals, drawings and schematics of equipment and machines.
  • Ability to be highly adaptable to expected/unexpected changes and keep a positive attitude
  • APICS certification (CPIM and/or CSCP) or actively pursuing, is a plus
  • Aerospace and machine shop experience is a plus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure of manufacturing environment, which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as: safety glasses, hearing protection and shoe boot wear. Ability to travel to outside locations on occasion in uncontrolled environments.
