 Job Summary

Quality Engineering includes all departmental QMS (ISO 9001/AS9100/AS9102) indirect functions e.g. Calibration, Certificates of Compliance both Shipping & Receiving, Source Quality, Planning Approval, Supplier Surveillance, Customer Contractual Compliance, Purchase Order Approval, Delegation Authority, Internal Audits, DMIR, Root Cause Investigation & Corrective Action, Process Improvement, Tool Coordination and Records Retention.

  • Follow written guidelines within established tolerances.
  • Recommend changes in manufacturing processes to improve production capabilities.
  • Assist in implementing practices that will effectively utilize Quality resources.
  • Compliance with statutory, regulatory, and Customer requirements as documented in Contour Aerospace Quality Management System Policies, Procedures, and Instructions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be assigned to perform varying degrees of Quality Engineering activities and lead projects pertinent to Internal and Customer Quality Assurance under general guidance of Quality Assurance Management.
  • Drive continuous defect reduction by collecting and analyzing quality-related data (yield, rework, and scrap) and facilitating problem-solving activities to process improvement utilizing using tools such as FMEA/PFMEA
  • Conduct internal/supplier audits to ensure customer requirements, regulatory agencies, government regulations, and engineering specifications are properly met.
  • Perform purchase order and contract reviews to ensure complete flow-down of customer and organization requirements throughout the supply chain.
  • Ensure continual compliance and directly contribute to the improvement to the Quality Management System procedures and processes.
  • Host client and regulatory audits, manage responses/resolution, and audit follow-up including facilitation of Root Cause and Corrective Action.
  • Perform Material Review Board (MRB) duties representing Quality Engineering
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations and Engineering to improve manufacturing process and develop methods to eliminate quality problems.
  • Responsible for the effective execution and compliance with the First Article Process in accordance with AS9102
  • Maintain a relationship of trust with Key Customers e.g. Boeing, Spirit, Bombardier, Gulfstream and Military
  • Requires consistent exercise of discretion and independent judgment to perform assignments of a professional nature requiring application of quality engineering and related techniques.
  • Foster a “Safety 24/7” culture; driving safety initiatives to ensure zero safety related incidents annually.
  • Provide leadership on problem solving teams to drive root cause analysis and Corrective/Preventive Action plans
  • Other duties as assigned

Team Responsibilities

Responsible for direction of team members in overall coordination and direction in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws. Interact with co-workers building a cohesive work environment which builds a team atmosphere working towards company goals and objections.


  • 5 years manufacturing experience
  • Working knowledge with Digital Product Definition and Model Based Definitions e.g. Boeing D6-51991, NADCAP AC7130
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Experience working in commercial/military aerospace quality systems.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering technical data, such as manufacturing or part drawings and specifications to provide guidance to cross-functional teams
  • Significant experience working directly with customers and suppliers on technical issue resolution
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as, strong problem solving, organizational, project management and decision-making skills.
  • Understand internal and external customer requirements with a high attention to detail in resolving findings
  • Knowledge of 8D, A3, & 5-Why Problem solving tools
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning in accordance with AS9145
  • Knowledge of Special Process requirements and associated Quality requirements e.g. NADCAP
  • Evaluate and monitor suppliers to manage/publish supplier performance metrics, develop and lead projects to provide suppliers support on improvements needed
  • Provides statistical information and monitor results for quality improvements.
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure of manufacturing environment, which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as: safety glasses, hearing protection and shoe boot wear. Ability to travel to outside locations on occasion in uncontrolled environments.
