Open Position: Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer defines and implements quality assurance solutions to a wide range of complex issues. Ensures a high reliability and proper performance per product requirements. Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommends corrective action

Essential Duties

  • Evaluates and approves suppliers against established requirements inclusive of the required Quality System level
  • Initiates and launches Quality Improvement Plans inclusive of root cause analysis utilizing tools such as 8D, A3 and 5-Why amongst others, for process related concerns, analyzes process audit results, and recommends proper corrective and preventive action within the supply base
  • Establishes the quality requirement, assuring that delivered products/components meet the requirements that are flowed to the supplier
  • Operates within established budgets by developing cost effective methods to improve quality
  • Performs supplier ISO9001/AS9100 audits at suppliers to ensure that all requirements are compliant
  • Facilitates PFMEA/FMEAs in coordination for suppliers in accordance with AS9145.
  • Reviews and approves supplier First Article technical data packages in accordance with AS9102 through Net-Inspect
  • Reviews and approves Supplier Purchase Orders to ensure correct engineering configuration and quality requirements are captured
  • Coordinates the supplier nonconformance submittal process and participates on the internal Material Review Board to provide dispositions to the supplier.
  • Provides significant expertise and knowledge on complex issues and acts as a professional resource for colleagues
  • May be assigned to one of the following areas: Quality Systems, Supplier Quality Assurance or Project Product Assurance
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Engineering processes and regulatory requirements

  • Able to solve complex problems; makes decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Ability to improve products or services by applying professional and business knowledge
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
  • Must have Blueprint interpretation, model based definition and GDT experience
  • 50% travel
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
  • Aerospace manufacturing is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Exposure of manufacturing environment, which requires the use of personal protective equipment such as: safety glasses, hearing protection and shoe boot wear. Ability to travel to outside locations on occasion in uncontrolled environments.
